SNUBA “Surface Nexus Underwater Breathing Apparatus” is a fun combination of snorkeling & scbua diving that allows you to swim freely without a tank. Breathe through a simple to use regulator while your air supply floats on a comforting support raft at the surface, like a giant hookah. It’s popular because no certification or prior diving experience is required. Participants only need to be at least 8 years of age. Best part is you can enjoy any depth: At the surface, 2 feet, 10 feet, or even 20 feet! Snuba is meant to be experienced at your own level of comfort.

2. Coffins Patch
Coffins Patch is a renowned diving site located 3 miles off the coast of Marathon, Florida, known for its unique landscape and abundant marine life. The site’s history dates back to the 19th century when a shipwreck occurred, leaving behind numerous wooden coffins. Today, divers can explore the wreckage of several ships, including a 19th-century sailing vessel and a modern-day barge, amidst coral and sea fans. The site is home to sea turtles, stingrays, and various fish species, as well as colorful coral and sea fans, moray eels, sharks, and barracudas.
3. Looe Key Reef
Looe Key Reef is commonly considered the very best place for snorkeling in Marathon Florida. The depth here spans 7-30 feet, making it another great snorkel trip spot for snorkelers of all ages and skill levels. The clarity at Looe Key Reef varies depending on which part of it you are snorkeling through. The shallower depths often offer amazingly clear waters, allowing snorkelers to explore the reef and catch sight of nearly 150 different species of fish, including yellowtail, parrotfish, moray eel, and barracuda.
4. Delta Shoal
Delta Shoal, a submerged reef system stretching 1.5 miles, is a must-visit for any serious diver. Explore the wreckage of several shipwrecks, including a 170-foot freighter, 100-foot tugboat, and smaller boats transformed into artificial reefs. Enjoy crystal-clear waters with visibility up to 150 feet, calm currents, and water temperatures ranging from 70-80°F year-round. The depth here ranges from 6 – 25 feet and features some of the most unique coral structures you’ll come across in the Florida Keys. Several long, finger-like coral forms can be explored here, as well as numerous coral canyons, where snorkelers will likely find droves of fish hiding away. Look out for grunts, spiny lobsters, and angelfish, as well as an array of interesting sponges.
5. Ivory Shipwreck
Dive into the depths of the Florida Keys and discover the Ivory Shipwreck, a 216-foot-long cargo vessel intentionally sunk in 1987 to create an artificial reef. This underwater wonderland rests at a debpt about 15 feet. Lots of marine life can be spotted here, including bluehead, surgeonfish, and blue tang.
